Professional Disciplinary Proceedings:

Jamie has developed a particular interest in the Regulatory and Disciplinary aspects of the Regulated Professions. The clear overlap between employment issues and alleged breaches of conduct or competence standards give him the knowledge and skills to be an effective and robust advocate and advisor in the difficult and stressful scenario of professional disciplinary proceedings.

He has successfully dealt with many complicated and difficult matters before conduct and competence committees of Regulated bodies and he has been involved in appeals of such matters to the High Court. He brings to the disciplinary field real knowledge and skill gained in commercial and employment issues that arise in other areas of his practice, but which regularly appear in the factual circumstances of professional disciplinary cases.

Jamie has represented a wide range of regulated professionals before their professional bodies and has been involved in many complicated and protracted hearings including by way of example:

  • A Teacher engaged in personal relationships with individuals on the Sex Offender Register.
  • A social worker who in his spare time was involved in the operation of a school within a mosque where it was alleged the health and safety of pupils was at risk thereby questioning his commitment to the inherent safeguarding values of his profession.
  • An 8 day hearing involving a head teacher who implemented a “safe” self-harm policy through the provision of a sterile self-harm kit in the confines of a semi residential school for adolescents.
  • Health care professionals alleged to have misappropriated patients property.

Personal Injury:

With an extensive common law background Jamie has represented Claimants and a wide range of Defendants in claims that arose from workplace accidents, road traffic matters, public and occupiers liability.
