In view of the public health warnings issued by WHO, the government and the NHS regarding Coronavirus we have put in place various health and safety measures in a bid to minimise the risk to staff, members of chambers and visitors to chambers.
As a result Chambers closed the physical building at 9 Gough Chambers to all visitors on 24th March 2020. However, we have ensured ever since that we continue to provide our high level of service. Business continues as usual and we aim to minimise disruption for all our clients.
Members of chambers are able to work remotely and have already conducted a large number of hearings, trials, appeals in the Court of Appeal, conferences and JSMs by video conferencing including MS Teams, Skype for Business, Zoom and Google Hangouts, as well as by telephone. In short we are able to conduct almost all of our business remotely at the present time. We also continue to attend court hearings and other professional commitments if required.
We use paperless systems where those who instruct us have access to these to share documentation. If hard copy instructions are provided – please liaise with our clerking team, in advance, about how receipt by counsel can be best managed.
Our telephones are manned in the usual way remotely and the clerks are online during all working hours to deal with enquiries.
