News | Tue 1st May, 2018

Andrew Ritchie QC, Head of Chambers at 9 Gough Chambers has been shortlisted for the Barrister of the Year Award 2018. The announcement will be made on 26 June 2018, during The Lawyer Awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel.

This award is testament to Andrew’s relentless work in the fields of Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence and Public Inquests, particularly in relation to the cases of Charlie Lewington v MIB [2017] EWHC 2848 (Comm) a road traffic accident, as well as his representation of 24 families in 2017, during a 6-week public inquest into the 2015 Tunisian beach murders.

Andrew’s advocacy on both cases has been instrumental in better victim support, through developments in legislation. In the case of Lewington, victims of accidents with off-road vehicles are now able to receive compensation for their injuries. Subsequent to the Tunisian beach murders, the Government’s approach to the safety of British people abroad has been completely overhauled and the Travel Industry has radically improved information given to customers before foreign travel.

With over 30 years’ practice, Andrew is equipped with a wealth of knowledge and gusto to the benefit of his clients and colleagues alike. He is consistently and highly regarded in Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 directories.
