Jonathan Loades has wide experience of prosecuting and defending in cases involving serious fraud, organised crime, conspiracy, bribery, corruption, misconduct in public office and POCA offences, as well as rape and serious sexual offences including historical offences.
In addition, he has appeared in many cases involving firearms, drug trafficking, and cases of attempted murder and the most serious offences against the person.
He has represented the Metropolitan Police Commissioner and for and against other Constabularies in civil cases involving allegations of assault by police officers, false imprisonment and misfeasance in public office. His practice has required him to advise in respect of disclosure and to head and direct a team of barristers engaged in disclosure in complex criminal investigations. He has a great deal of experience in assessing and advising in respect of expert evidence of all kinds and its deployment and presentation before criminal and civil courts.

The successful prosecution as leading counsel of an internet-based conspiracy to commit fraud by deceiving drivers into purchasing motor insurance.

The successful prosecution of a company director charged with the attempted murder of an employee.
R v S 2018
The successful prosecution of a defendant charged with rape and serious sexual offences (modern and historical) committed against his natural children of both sexes and his younger sibling, and serious domestic violence.
R v G 2015
The successful prosecution of a retired Headmaster accused of historical sexual offences (present day rapes and assault by penetrations under SOA 2003) committed more than 40 years before the trial. Upheld on appeal.

The successful prosecution of a defendant who raped one family member vaginally and anally and engaged in serious sexual activity with another.

The successful prosecution of a defendant charged with the rape and attempted murder of a septuagenarian following his entry into her home at night.
