On 13th October 2021, Eleanor Mawrey and William Dean spoke on prosecutions for fraud and associated matters at a conference attended by investigators from DEFRA Investigation Services (DIS), who investigate suspected criminal offences on behalf of DEFRA’s executive agencies.
Eleanor spoke about the Fraud Act 2006, including its application to environmental and regulatory matters. William spoke about the practicalities of such prosecutions, addressing such issues as disclosure, privilege and procedural considerations.
