Jake’s interactive talk on ‘Ethics in Surgery: the Surgeon and the law’ will offer practical guidance for surgeons.
Surgeons will be taken through recent developments in the law of medical negligence, including patient consent as set out in Montgomery and case law since this landmark decision by the Supreme Court in 2015. The talk will also include an overview of Bawa-Ghaba and the scope for criminal proceedings for gross medical negligence.
To conclude, Jake will also provide practical advice on litigation and attending court.
