News | Wed 12th Jun, 2019

James Thacker and Jennie Oborne successfully prosecute “vicious, shameful and premeditated” attack committed with the intention of procuring a miscarriage.

Harief Pearson (21), Kydie McKenna (22) and a 16 year old girl have each pleaded guilty to attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent after the sustained assault against the pregnant teenager who had refused to abort Mr Pearson’s child.

In the month before the attack, Mr Pearson googled “How to get rid of an unborn baby”. He then arranged the assault by the two female defendants, who kicked and punched the teenager saying “we’ll be getting rid of it for you”. Pearson came back into the room on one occasion saying: “I don’t think its dead yet, continue”.

When the teenager asked for water, one of the defendants poured vodka and laundry detergent down her throat.

Mr Pearson and the 16 year old girl pleaded guilty shortly after the case was opened before a jury and Mrs Justice Simler DBE at Harrow Crown Court.

Luisa Stuart of the CPS said “This was a vicious, shameful and premeditated attack on a vulnerable young pregnant victim. It was orchestrated by Pearson because he did not want to be a father.

Sentencing will take place on the 5th July.
