Overview

At 9 Gough Chambers we take a practical, business-oriented approach to costs.

Members of the Costs Group can provide advice and representation in respect of any costs issues that can arise during litigation, from discrete points of principle to inter partes assessments. They are experienced and ready to take on the challenges presented by the constantly changing landscape of costs.

The Costs Group has considerable experience in providing training on costs and funding issues and can tailor in-house CPD lectures to clients’ individual needs.

Members of the Group accept instructions across a range of civil costs work including:

  • Application and interpretation of principles and rules on costs, such as the scope and application of Part 36, Qualified One-Way Costs Shifting and disputes over applicability or extent of fixed costs.
  • Enforceability issues arising from CFAs, CCFAs and DBAs.
  • CCMCs, costs management, budgeting and arguments on departures from budgets.
  • Detailed assessment hearings and solicitor-own client assessments.
