Tom Goodhead acts in Welsh NHS Inquest

Tom Goodhead has succeeded in securing an Article 2, ECHR Inquest for a Cardiff family following the death of their 93 year old mother in the care of the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board in January 2014.
On Friday 22nd January, 2015, the Coroner ruled at a Pre-Inquest Review that as a result of admitted systemic failings in care and non-adherence to relevant NICE/NPSA guidelines, Article 2 ECHR was invoked. The Coroner rejected submissions that NICE guidelines were not mandatory in Wales and thus Article 2 ECHR was not invoked.
Tom, instructed by Beers LLP, acts on behalf of a family whose mother died following a failure by treating doctors, pharmacists and nurses to administer levothyroxine to the deceased over a period of seven weeks. This failure contributed to the deceased’s weakness and her eventual succombing to pneumonia.
Tom is currently instructed in a large number of cases against Welsh health authorities. He is extremely familiar with the particularities of the Welsh NHS following devolution.
The Article 2 Inquest will be take place in Cardiff on the 26th, 27th and 28th June, 2015.
