Tom Little appeared for Prosecution in important Court of Appeal ruling on good character directions to be given to the jury

News | Mon 20th Apr, 2015

Last week a five judge constitution of the Court of Appeal including the Lord Chief Justice, the President of the Queen’s Bench Division and the Vice President of the Court of Appeal Criminal Division handed down judgment in R. v. Hunter & others.

The judgment reviewed when and in what form good character directions for the defendant should be given to jury in a criminal trial. The judgment, which adopts the submissions made by the Prosecution, should bring much needed clarification to an area of the criminal law that has generated many appeals.
