It is with great regret and sorrow that Chambers announces the passing of Anthony “Tony” Palmer QC. Upon taking Silk, as was the then convention, Tony joined Chambers in London – in this case at our old address at 2 Dr. Johnson’s Buildings Temple. From there he carried on a busy and successful criminal practice appearing in cases of the greatest gravity and seriousness. Tony was a giant of a practitioner, although not of physically towering stature. He had a quick and incisive mind and produced the most devastating results for his clients. Outside court he was a charismatic and irresistible character – a raconteur, bon vibrant, a walking dynamo who lit up the room with stories and anecdotes. His friends at 2 Dr Johnson’s Buildings, who are now at 9 Gough Chambers, continue to remember him with fondness and admiration. Our sympathy and best wishes go to his family.
